Wellbeing Support Officer

About The Role 

The Student Wellbeing Support Officer takes a lead role in managing the wellbeing of enrolled students including those students residing in our on campus accommodation.  The role is responsible for being part of a team and the primary point of contact for all student enquiries and support.    

The role will triage all students and conduct an assessment on the immediate needs and will determine the type and level of support required.  This position is a Child Safe Contact Officer and is required to work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders and leads all student events that are inclusive. The position takes a key role in delivering relevant, progressive and effective wellbeing practice and intervention to students across all campuses.  

Selected Duties: 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate support and/or referral to people who face a range of complex issues such as mental health, effects of drugs/alcohol, homelessness, family/peer conflict.
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills including the ability to remain calm and act with empathy and sensitivity when dealing with people who may be in a highly emotional state.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of health related and/or educational workshops.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet the objectives of the role in line with policy, procedures, and relevant legislation.

About You 

Skills & Experience 

  • Relevant degree in disabilities, social work or community services and relevant work experience; or a suitable combination of a lesser qualification. 
  • Considerable experience in the disability or community services sector or related discipline.
  • Current driver’s Licence.
