Workplace Health and Safety Advisor

Vision Australia exists to support people who are blind or have low vision to live the life they choose. Vision Australia provides services to more than 25,500 people clients from 35 Vision Australia centres in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia; and through outreach programs in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

An exciting opportunity awaits an accomplished Workplace, Health and Safety professional to operate from either of our flagship Parramatta or Coorparoo offices.

Responsibilities 

As a Workplace Health & Safety Advisor at Vision Australia you will:

  • Comply with all elements of the VA WHS Management System.
  • Role model positive WHS/OHS practices and behaviours at all times and report any incidents, injuries and hazards immediately, and ensure their recording.
  • Develop effective business relationships with managers and workforce members by providing WHS advice consistent with organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
  • Effectively promote Workplace Health Safety and Wellbeing within the Organisation in order to foster a positive and proactive culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Support development, implementation and monitoring of our WHS Management System, including reporting and compliance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in OHS/WHS and relevant skills and experience
  • Knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply, all National WHS/OHS legislation
  • Experience working with WHS information systems and associated reporting mechanisms
  • Detailed knowledge of, and experience in, contemporary WHS programs, regulations and codes of practice across multiple states
  • Understanding of best practice WHS
