About the role

This amazing opportunity has become available as our existing incumbent has decided to relocate to be closer to family interstate. Therefore this incredibly unique and rare vacancy has become available for an environmental professional to work in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area for an industry leading ecotourism attraction. 

In this pivotal role you will be primarily responsible for managing the team of Rangers who provide educational experiences to Skyrail guests, promote sustainable environmental practices, maintaining the superb Skyrail grounds and facilities, and deliver on conservation projects. 

The role will require you to lead a team of 7-10 staff, this will require you to be experienced and comfortable with providing leadership including, coaching, training, managing rosters and delivering on team performance.

A degree in Environmental Science/management or ecology is essential for the role. Experience in conservation and land management or leadership positions is also preferred.

As a values driven organisation, you will naturally lead by example and possess a "can do" attitude and set a positive standard for your team, Skyrail guests and stakeholders. You will also need to be a "people person" with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude. 

As an important part of the leadership team within Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, you will need the ability to work independently, with a strong work ethic and demonstrate the ability to lead others to achieve departmental objectives.  

Skills and experience

The following key attributes and skills will see you succeed in this career path with Skyrail:

• Degree in Environmental Science/management or ecology
• Minimum 1 – 3 years leadership experience
• Extensive experience in conservation and land management, horticulture, or landscaping
• Experience managing projects or initiatives.
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint and Teams.
