WorkCover Queensland has issued guidance in the wake of massive flooding.

As floodwaters begin to recede following days of inundation in south-east Queensland, WorkCover says it is aware that many of its policyholders have been affected.

“While the full impact is still being felt, we are taking some immediate steps for affected policyholders,” the authority said in a statement this week.

Flood-affected businesses are encouraged to contact WorkCover in the first instance to discuss their arrangements.

This may include helping employers to review their estimated wages for the current year and adjust them as appropriate. This may result in a reduction in premium or potentially a refund.

Employers may also be able to access alternative and extended payment arrangements.

“We hope these changes will assist Queensland businesses and offer some relief in the short-term,” the authority says.
