Accenture Australia has been named the nation’s top Employer of the Year for 2013 of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community by Pride in Diversity.

The Australian arm of the global professional services organisation topped the field of 10 which were recognised for their outstanding support of their LGBTI employees.

Using the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), Pride in Diversity concluded that the nation’s top ten employers are:

  1. Accenture Australia
  2. PwC
  3. Goldman Sachs
  4. KPMG
  5. IMB Australia
  6. Chevron Australia
  7. Curtin University
  8. Westpac Group
  9. University of Western Australia
  10. Lend Lease

Pride In Diversity Program Director Dawn Hough says more and more organisations are engaging with the annual awards. “Submissions this year were up by 65% and over 3000 employees took part in the process,” Ms Hough says.

“This has made gaining entry to the Top Ten a much more difficult process which shows that organisations throughout Australia are taking very seriously their work in this area and that LGBTI inclusion within Australian workplaces is on the rise and is fast becoming a differentiator in the workplace diversity agenda.”
