SafeWork SA has released an options paper addressing aspects of the current review of South Australia‟s public holidays legislation.

The review of the Holidays Act 1910 (SA) (Holidays Act) is intended to provide clarity to both the general community and employers and employees about when public holidays are observed in South Australia.

The review will attempt, as far as possible, to ensure that South Australia‟s legislation is in harmony with other States and Territories in the interests of national conformity and consistency, and in recognition that private sector workers are part of the national system of industrial relations.

The Holidays Act does not regulate industrial relations entitlements and obligations of employees and employers, nor is it a review of trading hours in South Australia.

Submissions to the options paper are due by 31 March 2012. More information is here.
