Safework NSW has hit the road to spread the word of good work, health and safety approaches.

SafeWork NSW on Tuesday has held presentations at Deniliquin TAFE in the state’s south, hosted by the Safer Southern Riverina Working Group.

SafeWork NSW assistant state inspector Craig Przibilla said the agency was promoting its work, health and safety roadmap for NSW, emphasising industries such as construction and agriculture as major employers in the Deniliquin region.

“The presentation was about building a relationship with the community as an inspector and developing collaborations with small construction businesses,” he told local reporters.

“We provided information about the difference between safe work procedures and safe work method statements for high risk construction work.

“Young workers aged 16 to 24 are over-represented in work-related construction injuries, so another primary focus was tips for promoting a safety culture among young workers.”

The experts also filled in the regional community on compliance documentation requirements, responsibilities the business operator or sub-contractor has on a site, SafeWork inspections and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
