The South Australian Government is inviting public feedback on the draft Work Health and Safety (Review Recommendations) Amendment Bill 2024.

Following an election commitment to overhaul workplace safety standards and an independent review led by former WorkSafe Victoria executive director, Mr John Merritt, the state is looking to refine and enhance workplace safety and dispute resolution practices.

The review, conducted in late 2022 and released in early 2023, recommended key legislative changes to the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.

These changes aim to improve civil dispute resolution, ensure workers' rights to safety, and provide fairness for victims and families of serious workplace accidents.

The government has now made the draft bill available for a four-week public consultation period, encouraging input from all interested parties.

The draft bill is accessible here - Work Health and Safety (Review Recommendations) Amendment Bill 2024.
