Australia Post data suggests a postie suffers a job-related injury at least once a week.

In the past fiscal year, new stats show that 65 posties sustained serious injuries, ranging from broken limbs and concussions to painful lacerations, often necessitating hospitalisation.

Additionally, some posties grapple with psychological trauma as a result of these workplace incidents.

The highest number of these incidents was documented in New South Wales, followed by Victoria and Western Australia.

However, Australia Post spokesperson Rod Maule has underscored the organisation's commitment to safety.

“While we want our team to deliver for all Australians, we also want each of them to safely get home to their families at the end of the day,” he said.

“Safety is our number-one priority.”

Maule urged drivers to exercise extra caution around posties on the road, especially in the months leading up to Christmas. He noted an increasing issue of vehicles tailgating posties, leaving no margin for error.
