New statistics show 125 Australians have died at work this year.

Figures from Safe Work Australia indicate the transport, postal and warehousing industries have the highest number of fatalities, with 46 deaths between them so far.

The same three industries had the second highest number of fatalities in Australia last year, ending at 7.76 fatalities per 100,000 workers.

Up to a fortnight ago, the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry had recorded 29 fatalities, compared to 48 fatalities for the entire year before.

The current rate could see agriculture, forestry and fishing industries mark their least deadly period in the last 11 years.

The construction industry has seen 14 fatalities so far, 5 less than the total death across the industry in 2013.

The mining industry has recorded 10 fatalities this year.

Many industries report no fatalities this year, including administrative and support services, education and training and financial and insurance services among others.
