Wellbeing and Recognition Specialist

 

Hamilton Island is looking for a Wellbeing and Recognition Specialist to lead and manage programs that support employee health, wellbeing, and engagement. This is an an ideal opportunity for someone able to commute daily by ferry from nearby Airlie Beach.

In this key role, you’ll be responsible for managing Return-to-Work (RTW) processes, fitness for duty evaluations, and Workers Compensation claims, ensuring employees are well-supported throughout their recovery. You’ll also play a key role in driving health and wellbeing initiatives that boost employee engagement and foster a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture. Reporting to the HR Director, this position joins the Partnering team that play a pivotal role in helping deliver on our strategic vision through our people and upholding the Hamilton Island values of Service, Excellence, Environment, Safety and Team.

Your Role

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Recruitment, Staff Accommodation, Activities, Learning & Development, and Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) teams to provide expert guidance on wellbeing matters.
  • Manage the Workers Compensation / RTW process for work-related injuries and illnesses, developing suitable duties plans in consultation with OH&S, medical practitioners, and managers.
  • Coordinate the Reward and Recognition programs, including Eminence, Instant Rewards, and Life Events.
  • Plan and execute staff events, including the Christmas Party, Eminence Awards, Service Awards, and Awards Nights, in collaboration with the Events Team.

About You:

Your expertise will be vital in guiding employees through injury recovery and their return to work, while also championing employee wellbeing and recognition initiatives.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Excellent Communication: Able to clearly convey information and engage effectively with employees and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships across diverse teams.
  • Event Planning: Skilled in organising and executing large-scale staff events with attention to detail.
  • Resilience: Ability to stay calm, focused, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidentiality: Handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

You will also have:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources, Occupation Health and Safety or Counselling (Essential)
  • Experience managing work or non-work-related injuries and/or illness (Essential)
  • Return to Work Coordination Certificate QLD and NSW (Desired)
  • Formal qualifications in Human Resource Management, Psychology, or related discipline (Desired)
