About the role

The Senior Policy & Legislative Services Advisor works collaboratively to review, develop and give high quality, authoritative, policy advice on WorkSafe’s Strategic priorities and statutory purpose, including:

  • reducing workplace harm and improving outcomes for injured workers.
  • striving to make Victoria to be the safest place to work in Australia and one of the safest in the world.
  • being a world leader in return to work after a workplace injury.
  • building a diverse workforce that reflects the Victorian community we serve.

The Senior Policy & Legislative Services Advisor works within the External Affairs Division to:

  • critically assesses and respond to emerging trends and challenges in occupational health and safety and workers compensation.
  • formulate effective regulatory responses to solve complex policy problems.
  • engages and presents information in executive, government and stakeholder forums.
  • facilitates cross-organisational approaches to problem solving and a constructive approach to resolving challenges.
  • analyse legal, economic, policy and advice and Policy proposals.

About you

Candidates with the following attributes will be highly regarded:

  • A commitment to collaborative and innovative ways of working.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of government including, executive government, government departments, agencies, regulators and stakeholder forums and processes.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Experience in critical analysis and evaluation of occupational health and safety and workers compensation regulation.
