Dispute Resolution Officer

 

  • $130,042 per annum + super
  • Full time, fixed term to 29 August 2025

About the role

The Claims and Recovery Support Division (“CaRS”) is focused on supporting the recovery and return to work of injured workers. CaRS is transforming how support and services are delivered to injured workers to improve outcomes achieved and help shape the future Recovery Service Model for the Victorian Workers Compensation scheme.

The Dispute Resolution Officer is a member of the Claims Support team within CaRS, and proactively assists the Senior Disputes Resolution Officer in the management and, where possible, early resolution of disputes, ensuring positive outcomes are maximised.

You will be:

  • Engaging with the Claims Support Specialists, Team Leaders – Recovery & Support, Recovery & Support Advisors, Coordinators and Officers as appropriate regarding the history and nature of the dispute(s) and potential resolution outcomes for dispute
  • Obtaining relevant claim information and review for timely actioning of requests, effectively communicating regarding timeframes of requests
  • Engaging with the worker/worker representative about the dispute(s) and, where appropriate, attempt early resolution in line with WorkSafe requirements, including key performance indicators, and authorisation level
  • Actively and reasonably participating in conciliation conferences to facilitate timely resolution of disputes by meaningfully and genuinely discussing all relevant issues raised at conference
  • Ensuring the organisation complies with legislative, regulatory and governance requirements by keeping abreast of relevant governance, regulatory and legal obligations including case law and precedents affecting claims and the scheme
  • Reviewing, collecting and reporting on identified scheme trends and individual cases.

About you

You are an experienced individual who thrives building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You are able to influence a broad range of individuals, you enjoy making an impact and working in a dynamic, complex environment. You will also have:

  • Extensive experience in workers compensation/personal injury claims management
  • Extensive experience with Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes or in alternative dispute resolution
  • Strong understanding of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (AC Act) and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act) and associated Regulations
  • Strong engagement, negotiation, conflict resolution, people and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to demonstrate high degree of resilience and a positive attitude towards change and complex decision making.
