About the ABC

The ABC is the nation's most trusted and independent source of Australian conversations, culture, and stories. With over 4,000 employees from diverse backgrounds across over 50 locations around Australia and overseas, we are proud to create, curate and deliver high-quality content that informs, educates and entertains Australian communities.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join our dedicated multidisciplinary Health, Safety & Wellbeing team - part of People & Culture and to drive the ABC’s psychosocial health and wellbeing program for the whole organisation.

At ABC People & Culture, we are committed to career development: we look for potential and we invest in our people to be leaders in their fields. We believe in flexible approaches to working and in building diverse and collaborative teams.

ABC employees work in a demanding environment, with high levels of responsibility. The work of our content makers particularly involves emotional connections, change, fast-paced events, confrontation and sometimes conflict. ABC coverage of court proceedings, road crashes, crime, violence, conflicts, bushfires and other natural disasters in Australia and internationally may be especially stressful and traumatic. To support all employees in managing these unique challenges, and other organisational psychosocial risk factors, the ABC has developed a psychosocial health and wellbeing program which is targeted at managing psychosocial risks and bolstering wellbeing.

As Manager, Psychosocial Health and Wellbeing you will be responsible for leading the ABC's psychosocial health and wellbeing programs, to enable employees and managers to identify and manage organisational psychosocial risks through ongoing prevention, training and awareness initiatives. Reporting to the Head, Health Safety & Wellbeing, and working collaboratively with the Manager Trauma Programs you will:

  • Develop, shape and implement communications strategies to promote the ABC’s psychosocial health and wellbeing programs.
  • Manage the contract for provision of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services.
  • Maintain the ABC Psychosocial Risk Register and framework and assist ABC Divisions to proactively identify, assess and manage psychosocial risks in the workplace.
  • Develop and conduct targeted training across the ABC to support managers and workers to manage and respond to psychosocial risks.

About You

A registered Psychologist and certified in Training and Assessment with experience in delivering resilience training and wellbeing programs, you will also have specific experience developing and implementing risk interventions addressing psychosocial health management in organisational settings - ideally working with people within the journalism/media industry.

You'll also be able to demonstrate;

  • Superior organisational and planning skills with excellent problem solving and prioritising capability.
  • Experience in the delivery, review and continuous improvement of projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills to build positive relationships and identify support needs of people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
  • Capability and experience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.

You will join an established and specialised team who will welcome and support you in getting up to speed understanding the ABC, the Enterprise Agreement and feeling part of the People & Culture team. This is a great opportunity to join an iconic Australian brand.
