Award for keeping staff safe at work, on roads
The chief of a bus company has been recognised for his efforts in keeping workers safe.
Transdev Australasia Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Metcalfe has been honoured with the Safe Work Australia Safety Ambassador of the Year Award.
The award highlights the work of an individual who leads by example and encourages others to improve work health and safety, showing the importance of a safe working environment.
Mr Metcalfe received the award as part of Safe Work Australia Month, at an event in Canberra.
Safe Work Australia Chief Executive Officer Rex Hoy said; “Leading from the top down Jonathan displayed true leadership by pushing safety as a priority for Transdev Australasia.”
“Driving his motivation for safety excellence, is the philosophy that great organisations are differentiated by the culture and values underpinning what they do.
“He has worked tirelessly to improve the safety culture within Transdev. His dedication has been recognised by Transdev staff at all levels.”
Metcalfe says it is all about protecting his most valuable asset – the staff.
“Not only am I passionate about driving a safety culture, but I am also proud to say that all the staff at Transdev Australasia have shown through their positive engagement with our many safety programs and campaigns,” he says.
“I genuinely hope I have been able to contribute to building a culture where we have made safety not only a priority within our business, but a shared responsibility for everyone at all levels of our organisation.”
