This week’s National Safe Work Month focus is on navigating mental health through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safe Work Australia says that while employers might not be able to help the stress workers are facing at home, they must eliminate or minimise the risk to psychological health and safety at work as far as is reasonably practicable.

The authority has provided a number of resources on this theme.

The first is an information sheet about preventing psychological injury at work during COVID-19.

It has also provided mental health case studies for examples of work health and safety best practice for COVID-19.

Additionally, a free webinar co-hosted with Comcare will be held on Thursday 8 October. The webinar will explore the large-scale changes that workplaces have undertaken to address the OHS risks and challenges presented by COVID-19.

More information on future Safe Work Month events is available at the what’s on page for the National Safe Work Month website.
