A popular range of packaged meats are being recalled due to contamination fears.

Mettwurst and pepperoni manufactured by Australian smallgoods firm Linke’s Central Meats are among the products being recalled.

Recent food safety checks by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions

South Australia (PIRSA), uncovered three types of mettwurst and one pepperoni from Linke’s Central Meats that SA Health has advised people not to consume.

While there have not been any reports of illness associated with the smallgoods, PIRSA says it looked into the products as part of routine food safety checks.

The authorities say they were unable to verify the safety of the firm’s manufacturing processes for the mettwurst and pepperoni products.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) is issuing a nationwide recall for the product and will post information about the recall on its website.

The potentially affected products, all in Linke’s Central Meats casing, are:

Linke’s Garlic Mettwurst — 270g, 500g

Linke’s Plain Mettwurst — 600g, 1.3kg

Linke’s Brandy Mettwurst — 2.4kg

Linke’s Pepperoni.
