The Opportunity 

We are currently seeking applications for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our Health, Safety Security, and Environment (HSSE) team. This is full-time role located in our Corporate Office in the Brisbane CBD, working 38 hours per week Monday-Friday

The HSSE Department is a team of 4 (including this role) and is a busy, dynamic environment supporting all levels and areas of LifeFlight. 

The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for the provision of the Health & Safety strategy incorporating WHS, rehabilitation, return to work coordination and management of the Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy for all LifeFlight team members.   

Duties of this position include

  • Management and promotion of the LifeFlight Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
  • Coordination of the LifeFlight Drug & Alcohol Management Plan for new/current employees and contractors and other HSSE training programs
  • Management of Workers Compensation claims and acting as the LifeFlight Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator
  • Tracking, management, and support for all work and non-work-related injuries and other WHS reporting requirements
  • Preparation and deliver safety communication bulletin, articles and briefs
  • General administration support to the HSSE Department

About You

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the below requirements. Please note, applications that do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.

Essential:

  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to form professional relationships with ease
  • Demonstrated Safety communications experience
  • Strong writing skills with a proven ability to analyse data in many forms and provide accurate and reliable advice and recommendations based on this analysis

Desirable:

  • Two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Qualification in WHS Management
  • Qualification as Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator
  • Previous Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, management experience
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and regulatory structures
  • Experience with a Learning Management System, delivering Safety Training
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management and previous experience using a quality management application to manage safety reports and trend safety data.
