Health and Safety Business Partner (Investigations)

ActewAGL’s Safety and Compliance team are looking for an experienced, adaptable and enthusiastic individual to join our collaborative unit. 

Working as a member of the broader People, Safety and Culture team, success in this position would see you utilising your technical expertise in health and safety as well as your strong investigation, communication, consultation and collaboration skills with our internal and external stakeholders in achieving our work, health and safety strategy and achievable outcomes for the business.

What would your day-to-day look like?

Working collaboratively with the team and supporting the Manager Safety and Compliance, you will

  • undertake incident investigations as directed to produce high quality investigation reports that include the identification of root causes and contributory factors with recommended actions that are appropriate to minimise the risk of similar incidents.

  • maintain oversight of all incidents reported via the Guardian system to ensure they are appropriately categorised and investigated by the appropriately qualified persons.

  • work with the business by tracking actions from investigations, audits and inspections to ensure they are appropriate to address root causes and are completed within reasonable timeframes.

  • assist with the preparation and provision of health and safety reports and communication materials.

  • provide input to and support the implementation of the Health and Safety Branch Plan and People, Safety and Culture Strategy.

  • write, reviewing and implementing standard health and safety procedures into identified work groups within the business divisions.

  • develop health and safety related training, education and/or information material with particular regard to incident management and incident investigation.

  • facilitate workshops and delivering training, education and information relating to Investigation techniques in order to build capability within the business.

  • provide advice, support, assistance and information to the divisions on health and safety.

  •  manage health and safety projects as directed, including scoping, planning, implementation and reporting.

To succeed in this role, you will have the following key qualifications, skills and experience

  • Qualification in Investigations and/or extensive experience in the conduct of investigations for Health and Safety incidents or other relevant incident types to provide factual reporting that also identifies root cause

  • Completed or willing to undertake a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in a similar position

  • Experience in development and delivery of health and safety related workshops and training

  • Proven experience in writing and implementing health and safety procedures.

Bonus if you have:

  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Electrical Trade Qualifications

  • Project management qualification and/or experience managing small projects
