Workplace Health and Safety Manager

 

The Rugby Farming Group is a large Australian farming operation, growing, packing and transporting fresh vegetables to both domestic and export markets. 

Supporting a workforce in excess of 900 employees, across multiple sites, the Rugby Farming Group is focused on quality and providing rewarding career paths for their people.  Due to continued growth, we are now expanding our WHS team to make room for an additional WHS Manager.  

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the WHS Manager will oversee all aspects of health, safety, compliance and WHS systems across the group.  Working in partnership with the leadership team the successful candidate will drive improvement in safety culture whilst ensuring site risks are managed effectively.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Partner and coach managers and employees in understanding and achieving their responsibilities to workplace health and safety.
  • Provide leadership and advice that encourages stakeholders to create a continuous improvement culture and implement best practice management systems.
  • Supporting managers in monitoring, analysing and investigating reported injuries, incidents, and near misses, assist with hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Conducting incident investigations.
  • Monitoring compliance and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conducting regular audits and reviews of the Safety Management System.
  • Developing policies, procedures and programs to support health and safety across the business units.

Skills and Experience

You are a qualified (WHS Cert IV or above) safety professional ideally possessing experience in the agricultural sector.  You have a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, an understanding of contemporary safety principles and practices and a hands-on, practical approach that ensures you are seen as a credible and solutions-orientated business partner.  You possess a minimum 5 years experience in the application of WHS legislation, regulation and codes of practice.

This is a key role within the organisation, requiring the successful candidate to lead and influence cultural change to ensure the organisations safety objectives are achieved.
