The Opportunity

The Senior Consultant, Work Health and Safety will work closely with the Head of Work Health and Safety the broader People and Culture team, Organisational Effectiveness and leadership teams across Berry Street to embed a culture of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

The role is a key leading and influencing figure to further develop Berry Street’s commitment to health and safety injury prevention and risk management strategies, and in particular Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA).

The key components of the role include;

  • Playing a key role in the design, development and implementation of a Work Health and Safety multi-year, prevention-led program development plan.
  • Collaborating with the regions through attendance at OHS committee meetings and forums and providing support to staff and regional leadership teams.
  • Implementing a safety prevention focused culture that will lead to a reduction in workplace injury, WorkCover claims and an increase in return to work time frames for injured staff, with a strong focus on OVA.
  • Have a lead role in the development and implementation of the Health, Safety Management System framework – policy, procedures, process and guidance in consultation with key business stakeholders.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, OHS/WHS or related field.
  • Extensive experience working in Work Health and Safety within a large, complex organisation.
  • Excellent project management and program management skills.
  • Previous experience in a sector where Occupational Violence and Aggression is a high risk would be looked upon favourably.
