EHS Advisor - Southern Region (12 Month Contract)

About the role

USG Boral provides high quality internal linings, related products, and systems for residential and commercial construction, and is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual to join our team.

An opportunity is now available for an EHS Advisor to join USG Boral on a 12 month contract. Reporting to the National EHS Manager and based in Port Melbourne, you will be responsible for providing specialist EHS functional advice to the Plasterboard business in Victoria, Tasmania South Australia, and Western Australia within the Boral framework ensuring compliance with national and regional initiatives.

We are looking for someone who is collaborative, responsive and customer focused. In this role you will need to demonstrate your leadership capabilities including coaching, developing and thinking strategically along with responding to business needs.

Duties/responsibilities

  • Provide advice and direction to local and operational management within the business, promoting systemic alignment with Regional and National initiatives,
  • Monitor compliance with the Safety Management System and performance indicators,
  • Coach and mentor the business units to fulfil the requirements of our Behaviour Based Safety Leadership Program,
  • Facilitate and participate in high level incident investigation and risk assessment activities,
  • Identify trends in statistics for the business and provide advice on remedial activity,
  • Facilitate two way communication, feedback and interaction between employees and managers,
  • Review and assist in development of Safe Operating Procedures, contributing to Regional and National initiatives,
  • Provide monthly activity reports to the National HSE Manager.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution phases of the USG Boral HSEQ (Safety Management System) implementation project,and
  • Provide advice and direction to the global team regarding Health and Hygiene.
  • Frequently travel to various sites across Vic, Tas, SA and WA.

Skills/experience

  • Previous experience in an OHS or HSE Advisor role,
  • Diploma or higher qualification in OHS/HSE, or environment or Health and Hygiene,
  • Able to apply HSE Legislation to business activities,
  • Strong understanding of Behavioural Safety,
  • Preferable experience in a manufacturing environment,
  • Preferable exposure to continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles,
  • Team player and able to work autonomously,
  • Strong organisation and time management skill
  • Flexibility and ability to manage competing demands, and
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
