About the Role

CareSouth are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator to join our Illawarra based, People & Culture team on a full time, permanent basis.  

The Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator will be responsible for advising and assisting the organisation to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses to our staff, volunteers and contractors. This role will report directly to the Manager Safety & Wellbeing and will work closely with management and staff to ensure a coordinated approach to the management of WHS risks.

The successful applicant will be experienced in providing expert guidance, support and advice to management and will support the Manager Safety & Wellbeing with promoting and increasing knowledge, understanding, commitment and compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability;
  • A minimum of a Cert IV in WHS or related tertiary qualification;
  • Completion of return to work coordinator certification and 3-5 years’ experience across safety management and return to work;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the developing, implementing and auditing WHS management systems;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the management of work related and non-work related injuries and illnesses;
  • Experience in the management of work and non-work related psychological claims;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and expertise in applying the WHS legislative framework within a human services environment;
  • Experience in writing WHS policy and procedure;
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing projects within tight timeframes;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic work environment;
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to upholding confidentiality and privacy principles in the workplace; and
  • Willing to undergo a National Police Check and obtain a Working with Children Check clearance number.
