About This Opportunity

As the Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) you will provide specialist advice to the University and its staff about the prevention of illness/injury arising from exposure to chemical and physical hazards. This position has primary responsibility for occupational hygiene related matters within the Health Safety and Wellness Division including hazardous substances, asbestos and dusts, workplace ventilation, confined spaces, noise and personal protective equipment. This part-time position is one of two Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor's focused on Occupational Hygiene, within a multidisciplinary team environment.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You should possess qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, related Science or Health Sciences, and either postgraduate qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Science or Engineering Health Science, or extensive related occupational health and safety experience. You should have strong knowledge and skill regarding the identification, assessment, control and measurement of chemical, physical and biological hazards used or generated in the workplace. Membership with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists will be looked upon favourably.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time (60%), fixed term (2 years) appointment at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $98,298 - $110,376 per annum plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $115,008 - $129,139.
