An opportunity exists for an energetic and results driven person to provide leadership to the management team and motivate our people to strive for industry best practice in safety health and environment.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position provides leadership to a team of 150 people including contractors and manages our Safety Health and Environment systems.  The Risk Manager is responsible for mentoring operational personnel in safe production methods and setting the standards the company and the community expects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership that develops a culture which lives our values and ensures that we have high performing individuals and teams;
  • Ensure a high level of safety, environment and quality standards are maintained;
  • Being involved in community relations;
  • Close liaison with existing and potential customers to maximize growth opportunities for the business;
  • Provide leadership in the area of operational improvement;
  • Involvement in key planning and budgeting activities and responsibility for achieving agreed targets;
  • Ensure compliance with Metromix Standards, Policies and Statutory Regulations.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Experience in construction materials;
  • Qualifications in safety and environmental management
  • Strong abilities in planning and organising;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
  • An understanding of the financial drivers of the business;
  • Computer literacy.
