The role

Working as part of the Human Resource Team, and initially focussing on our Australian and New Zealand businesses, you will be responsible for all aspects of workplace health and safety across the Michael Hill group including;

  • Hazard identification and risk assessment activities and providing recommendations regarding appropriate control measures
  • Reviewing and developing standards, procedures and forms to enable continual improvement of WHS and to ensure compliance with legislation and standards
  • Supporting management and employees in providing accurate and timely advice to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Managing all Workers Compensation claims and return to work cases in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Maintaining comprehensive WHS records and manage all statutory WHS reporting requirements
  • Leading the Safety Committee and ensure all actions are addressed in a timely manner
  • Providing operational and technical WHS advice and coaching to managers
  • Developing and delivering training to staff to increase understanding of safety and to ensure legal compliance
  • Monitoring and analysing performance, systems and processes to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities
  • Building strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

About You

 We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or significant related experience in WHS
  • Previous WHS/OHS experience in a retail or multi-site environment 
  • Excellent working knowledge of WHS, including WHS legislation and the practical implementation of effective WHS systems
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • A highly professional, client-focused approach
  • Highly developed organisational skills
