The Human Resource Services (HRS) Directorate provides a range of services across the University such as Recruitment, Workplace Relations, Health and Safety, Payroll, Benefits and Support, Organisational Development, and Workforce planning. As part of our ongoing commitment to provide excellent human resource services across the University, the Directorate is seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Manager to be part of our dynamic team.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations, the Health and Safety Manager will implement a best practice safety culture and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in order to deliver safety initiatives and meet the UNE health and safety strategic objectives. Other key duties will include providing advice on optimum workplace health and safety practices based on current and emerging legislative requirements, management of workplace incidents and injuries and the investigation of them, reporting on the UNE Health and Wellbeing strategic initiatives; and manage hazard identification and resolution process.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role you will be an experienced professional who has relevant qualifications and proven experience in initiating and driving change in the workplace health and safety field, with knowledge in, and an ability to interpret, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011and other relevant health and safety legislation. You will have superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to influence and negotiate key stakeholders whilst clearly expressing ideas, concepts and models to a variety of clients.
