Full time - 35 hours per week, Nine day fortnight, Lease Back Vehicle & Phone

Maternity relief position (one year contract)

The Environmental Health team is currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Officer. This role works as part of a team of four and you will be responsible for undertaking inspections of such premises as food shops, beauty salons and premises with cooling towers, to ensure that all legal responsibilities are met. Although we try to promote an educational and proactive approach there will also be time where you will carry out appropriate enforcement as necessary. The position also involves investigating and resolving environmental health related complaints.

With your exceptional communication and people skills you will liaise with customers and council staff, responding to environmental and public health complaints, offering advice and promoting a positive image of Council to the community.

With your confidence at talking to groups you will assist in the co-ordination and delivery of Food Handling seminars as well as contribute to a regular food newsletter and develop and distribute suitable educational material to the community. This will require outstanding organisational skills and an innovative and positive approach so that we keep the City of Canada Bay a happy and healthy place to live and work.

To be successful in this role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in food surveillance combined with excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work as part of a diverse team and a current valid car driver’s licence is also essential.
