The organisation

Icon Water Limited is an unlisted public company wholly owned by the ACT Government operating under the Territory-owner Corporations Act. Icon Water own, manage and operate all water and sewerage services for the ACT and the bulk of Queanbeyan. Icon Water are major shareholders in ActewAGL Retail and Evoenergy. These investments are joint ventures with Jemena Limited and AGL Energy Limited, respectively.  

The opportunity

An opportunity exists for an experienced people and safety professional to join our Executive team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the purpose of this position is to provide strategic and operational oversight, as well as culture and change management expertise to support the Executive team.

This role is responsible for delivering a range of initiatives as part of our People, Health & Safety Strategy, in support of Icon Water’s business strategy, while strengthening overall workforce capability and capacity. This role is also responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the People, Health and Safety team.

The General Manager, People, Health & Safety will play a significant role preparing and leading our workforce (approx. 400 employees) through cultural change in ways that optimise staff engagement and drive positive outcomes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience as a people and safety professional, as part of an Executive or Management team. You will be degree qualified and have extensive experience in the development of contemporary people programs across the range of people specialisations including employee engagement, talent acquisition, remuneration and benefits, performance management, employment relations, organisational development and workforce planning. Having a demonstrated ability to operate and improve a safety management system and drive visible and felt leadership in WHS is preferable.

You will have an ability to think and operate strategically and holistically, be emotionally mature, and have exceptional written and oral communication capabilities.

You will have previous experience in mentoring team members and have the ability to establish credibility across key stakeholder groups through building and maintaining strong and constructive relationships.
