Occupational Health & Safety Co-ordinator 


Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, established in 2001 to act as the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria.

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Coordinator to join our Risk Management team on a full-time permanent basis. This role is entrusted with implementing best practice risk management by leading the development of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) initiatives, training programs, policies and procedures and providing an advisory service to Business Units to ensure legal compliance obligations. In additional to being a key resource for internal management and staff, there will also be a requirement to engage with and consult to external stakeholders such as Race Clubs and related industry Associations.

On a day to day basis, the role is key in over-seeing all aspects of hazard reporting, convening the Health & Safety Committee and HSR forums and continuously develop the awareness of our people to identify and eliminate risks at work. 


You have previous experience in delivering best practice risk management advice with a focus on the development and review of policies, hazard reporting and OHS performance metrics.  With a sound knowledge of current legislation and regulations, and the ability to document policies, reports and recommendations, you can effectively engage with a diverse group of stakeholders and deliver solutions. Experience working towards an AS 4801:2001 accreditation would be highly regarded as will experience in the transport, mining, manufacturing or construction sectors.

With highly effective interpersonal, communication and consultative skills, you are equally comfortable training and presenting to senior managers as you to “shop-floor” employees. Your ability to engage with and deliver solutions to a range of stakeholders sets you apart, and taking on new challenges, being flexible and showing initiative is second nature to you. A Cert. IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, and knowledge of the horse racing industry will be highly regarded.
