Safety & Compliance Officer

About the role

Due to an internal promotion, this fantastic opportunity exists for a Safety & Compliance Officer to join our Risk & Compliance team based at Caulfield where you'll work for one of the most diverse businesses around!

This role will see you responsible for coordinating, administrating, developing and helping to improve the clubs general risk approach towards Occupational Health & Safety and Risk Management.

You will be a self-starter that is comfortable multi-tasking and will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging yet exciting environment!

Some of the duties in this role will include:

  • Continuous improvement and further development of the Club's Safety Management System to AS4801.
  • Research and environmentally scan for emerging issues and trends in safety management.
  • Assist in review, development, implementation and testing of emergency plans.
  • Co-ordinate training and information sessions in system changes and OH&S generally.
  • Assist in facilitating quarterly Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Analyse safety trends across the business and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review Online Induction process regularly for legislative and compliance changes and co-ordinate the import and update of Online Induction database.
  • Record, administer and provide management reporting of all incidents / investigations.
  • Complete various SMS Audits and Pre- Event Audits.
  • Creating Risk Assessments for plant / manual handling / chemicals.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation within Incident Management System.
  • Assisting with Emergency Management and Event Control at events.
  • Fulfil the Safety Officer role on event days.

Ideally we are looking for the following skills and background:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or working towards a formal qualification in safety
  • Racing, Gaming Venue or Event Management experience
  • Audit experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • High level of accuracy/attention to detail and strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Application of data trend analysis and executive reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
