About the role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced WHS coordinator to commence immediately. This role reports to the Regulatory and Compliance Manager and will be a hands-on Safety Coordinator. Experience in a manufacturing role is preferable.

The key functions of this role will include:

  • Coordinate the WHS framework, including the administration of KPIs, targets and processes for WHS and environmental performance to be monitored on site.
  • Coordinate a WHS Management System that includes:
    • Safety Manual
    • Yearly action plans
    • Monthly action plans
  • Maintain WHS reporting systems and, actively engage with staff to facilitate a reporting culture to monitor incidents and injuries and identify risks.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve hazard inspections and internal audit processes on WHS hazards and risks.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in the development and review of relevant safety strategies to manage areas of non-compliance.
  • Coach, mentor and assist relevant stakeholders in the application of the WHS Management System and Risk Management.
  • Coordinate and assist with Risk Assessments.
  • Coordinate the chemical safety within the workplace.
  • Provide administrative support to the WHS SSG and Environmental committees.
  • Coordinate the health monitoring process (Audiometric Testing; Noise Testing etc)
  • Planning and implementing health and safety programmes and promotional activities (Inspections; Safety Week; World Environment Day).
  • Coordinate the Early Intervention Programme.
  • Assist with Workcover Claims Management and Return to Work Coordination.
  • Management of the internal audit process.
  • In collaboration with HR, develop and continuously improve training packages for Staff to build capability and knowledge
  • Lead the Environmental Impacts and Aspects review process and update documents as required.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programmes to deliver these.

The suitable candidate will possess the following:

  • Certificate in WHS
  • Experience in WHS, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001.
  • Previous exposure in internal and external auditing.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs and systems e.g. SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-organised and detailed oriented professional with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to handle, organise and prioritise multiple tasks and able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines, where required.
  • Must have knowledge of relevant subject matter acts, regulations and standards.
