About the role

The successful candidate will join a high performing team and work in a diverse, hands-on and very rewarding WHS position driving ongoing innovation and execution of AAL's Work Health and Safety Management System and associated policies and procedures. You will have a strong customer service focus, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders and drive improvements to ensure exceptional WHS outcomes across all business functions.

Key elements of the role:

  • Implement and maintain the company's Work Health and Safety Management System
  • Provide leadership and facilitate a culture of WHS continuous improvement
  • Coordinate the WHS risk management program
  • Ongoing monitoring and reporting
  • Review, develop and implement effective WHS policies and procedures
  • Lead safety incident (ICAM) investigations
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of WHS training and competency program
  • Development and implementation of WHS Maturity Model and associated reporting
  • Assist with alignment and delivery of AAL's WHS and wellbeing programs
  • Coordinate and maintain the service contractor WHS audit program
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including WorkCover and SafeWork SA as required
  • Facilitate WHS Committee operations including engagement, contribution, agendas, reports and minutes
  • Prepare and deliver quarterly WHS Performance Reporting to Executive Committee

The successful candidate will have:

  • Energy, enthusiasm and initiative to drive WHS innovation and collaboration across the business
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS
  • Detailed understanding of WHS legislation and practical application
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Lead Auditing qualification
  • Considerable Industry-based experience in a WHS, risk and compliance management role
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs
  • Drive, self-motivation, professional, natural leadership skills, team player and excellent communicator (written and verbal)
  • Current SA drivers licence
