Faculty of Medicine

The University of Queensland's Faculty of Medicine is an internationally recognised provider of world-class education and research. The research-intensive Faculty has a gross budget of almost $300 million, employs approximately 1000 continuing and fixed-term staff (headcount), has a community of more than 4000 non-salaried academic appointees and around 3200 students (headcount).

The Faculty of Medicine offers Australia's largest medical degree program for graduates and school-leavers. Undergraduate and postgraduate programs are available in the disciplines of Medicine, Health Sciences, E-Health, Mental Health, Biomedical Sciences and Public Health.

The role

The OH&S Officer will support daily OH&S operations across the Faculty of Medicine. You will assist the Manager in incident and hazard management, policy and procedure development, OH&S training and assist in the communication and information dissemination of OH&S matters across the Faculty. They will provide advice and support to the various Faculty stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory workplace health and safety requirements, and the University's polices and guidelines.

The person

Applicants should possess a degree qualification in occupational health and safety degree or BSc and subsequent relevant experience in a clinical or biomedical laboratory environment. The successful person should have experience and proven achievement in implementing effective OH&S policies and procedures, practical knowledge of relevant legislation, codes or practice and Australian standards. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively and liaise effective with a wide range of stakeholders and commitment to completing tasks thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner. A current open Queensland Drivers license or interstate equivalent is also required.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Hew Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207 - $79,964, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822 - $93,558).
