Health & Safety Advisor

This role is responsible for developing and implementing this Council's Workplace Health & Safety Management System. Reporting to the Senior Workplace Health & Safety Consultant, you will provide advice to key stakeholders while also ensuring that compliance is maintained in line with workplace health and safety requirement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the review of Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures 
  • Assist with investigations into incidents and high risk activities
  • Provide support to managers and training in order for them to manage issues and develop risk prevention strategies
  • Assist with injury management strategies and programs 
  • Prepare reports and share these with the workplace health & safety team
  • Conduct workers compensation claims as well as return to work programs

You will require:

  • Sound knowledge of OHS legislation and workers compensation 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in managing workers compensation claims and return to work
  • Previous local government experience would be advantageous
