CSIRO’s Biomedical Manufacturing Research Program works with biomedical companies to deliver new medical treatments and technologies that benefit millions of people in Australia and overseas, helping them live longer, healthier, and more productive lives.

Our Biomedical Materials Translational Facility (BMTF) is a part of the broader Manufacturing team of CSIRO based in Melbourne and provides research infrastructure to help transition new discoveries from the bench to scale-up, prototyping, pre-clinical testing, industry evaluation, and adoption, in turn addressing a critical capability gap in the Australian Medtech industry enabling a smooth transition from R&D to a sustainable product.

We are looking for a self-driven, highly motivated Quality Assurance Officer to support the BMTF’s Quality Management System (QMS) in providing quality management assistance to research and development activities. If you love to grow your career in QA and looking forward to learning from experts in the industry and are excited about working on diverse projects in the area of chemistry and biology and hold a special interest in electronic document and compliance management systems, then this role is just for you!

Your duties will include:

  • Participating in the review, approval and distribution of technical documents.
  • Maintaining training records and conducting training sessions on quality management topics and assisting the laboratory staff in following quality management protocols.
  • Communicating with critical suppliers regarding their certification and compliance.
  • Ensuring the inventory of incoming goods is inspected, received and correctly documented.
  • Managing the deviation reports, non-conformances, corrective actions / preventive actions (CAPAs) and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Participating in internal and external audits including in laboratory areas with hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Maintaining electronic records in the QMS software and restricting access to commercially sensitive information of CSIRO and/or research or commercial partners.
  • Ensuring confidentiality while working with commercially sensitive information.

Location: Melbourne, Clayton, VIC
Salary: AU$64k – AU$82k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term up to 18months

To be considered you will need:

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent relevant work experience in any of these areas of science, such as chemistry, biology, materials science, biomedical science, and/or related disciplines.
  • An interest in quality management topics and the desire to learn new skills.
  • High proficiency in written and oral communication skills with the ability to train colleagues and assist others with document writing.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary research team and carry out tasks under a certain level of supervision.
  • Experience with electronic document and compliance management systems (eg Q-Pulse or similar) and exposure to quality management under ISO 17025, GLP or a related quality system (eg. ISO 13485, ISO 15189, GMP). This is desirable but not a deal-breaker.
