Sydney Dental Hospital (SDH) has been serving the local community since 1904. The Hospital is a centre of excellence and throughout its history has been a key driver in shaping oral health and dental care in Australia. SDH is part of the Sydney Local Health District and is one of two major providers of public oral health services in NSW.

What you'll be doing

The position is responsible for the co-ordination and management of the Work Health Safety activities throughout Sydney Dental Hospital and Oral Health Services and acts as a consultancy service to all levels of staff , promoting WHS and increasing awareness; as well as being responsible for the initiation, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive WHS programme, provides statistical information and analysis and implements appropriate preventative strategies.

Selection Criteria

  • Ability to contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of Sydney Dental Hospital and Oral Health Services WHS and Risk management strategies.
  • Well developed and analytical and problem solving skills to facilitate change management, WHS risk management, accident prevention programs and investigate WHS Issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of WHS and related legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Well developed communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare high level reports and correspondence for presentation of information for reporting purposes.
  • Well developed effective interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management, clinicians and support staff.
  • Proven ability to work with self-motivation as a member of a multi-functional team and ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health Safety (WHS) and/or significant high level experience in this specialist area.
