Senior WHS Officer

Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Senior WHS Officer on a contract for 6 Months with potential extension.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate responses to internal and external WHS reviews for our client including local responses
  • Development and coordination of the implementation of global/local WHS SOPs/guidelines, safety alerts/factsheets, templates and checklists where there are gaps in the WHS management system referred to in these reviews/ investigations
  • Engage with and manage relationship and enquires with the regard to the implementation of the control measures
  • Actively engage with relevant operational key stakeholders and the Department’s Chief Medical Officer, Chief Pilot, and General Counsel Branch and DNP Legal as required
  • Validation of the WHS control measures implemented against the review recommendations, ensuring they achieve the desired outcome and are effectively implemented in the operational environment
  • Review the effectiveness and implementation of the response in relation to Comcare inspection recommendations or observations for the past two years
  • Provide technical safety advice and support to operational areas and assist in implementation of the control measures validation of the effectiveness of the control measures to ensure the controls are implemented in the operational environment
  • Ensure due diligence obligations are meet in regard to reporting on progress and effectiveness of controls against each of these reviews/investigations. Depending on the nature of the review or investigation, this includes reports to the Director, key stakeholders and appropriate committees
  • Develop case review or safety share where appropriate, and closure reports against all reviews/investigations.

Some travel may be required in this role.
