What you'll be doing   
This position provides an operational assistance and advisory service to BLH in the management of WHS, compliance to legislation and the prevention of workplace accidents and injuries.  

About you 

 
This position is suited to an organised and proactive person with experience in a work and health safety role in a large diverse organisation. 
 
You are self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. 
 
You have excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer care. You have exceptional work ethic, time management skills and the ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds. 
 
The successful candidate will ensure BLH managers and workers understand their accountabilities and responsibilities under current WHS legislation and regulations, Codes of Practice, relevant Australian Standards and NSW Health Policy Directives, SWSLHD policies and procedures. 
 
This position requires an organised multi-tasker who will prioritise and manage a complex workload effectively and have demonstrated experience successfully adhering to deadlines.

  • Qualifications in WHS and a working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing WHS policies and programs that have assisted an organisation achieve its outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, presenting and evaluating WHS training programs.
  • Demonstrated data reporting experience and ability to utilise incident and claims management systems to identify areas of improvement and recommend appropriate control strategies
  • Demonstrate experience in facilitating change in a large work environment
  • Demonstrated high level negotiation, mediation skills and communication skills(written/verbal)
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage projects in a high volume work area while managing competing priorities
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment
