About You

We are seeking an experienced, confident Health and Safety Advisor to assist the Health and Safety Manager to promote and maintaining a safety and wellbeing culture for all employees at the Autism Association. Ideally, you will have:
  • Relevant qualification/experience in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in similar role/s.
  • Knowledge of key legislative requirements in areas of Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management legislation (desirable).
  • Proficient in incident investigation, health and safety auditing and risk assessments.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in delivering OSH training to all levels of staff.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Proactive positive ‘can do' approach in all undertakings.
About the Role

You will provide support to managers, coordinators and team leaders to assist in meeting legislative requirements and delivery of best practices in relation to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), workers’ compensation and injury management. In consultation with stakeholders, you will identify, review and recommend work practices to eliminate or minimise occupational health and safety risks. Duties include:
  • Conduct high-level accident/incident investigations.
  • Assist with accident/incident recording in an electronic database and formulate regular reporting to relevant managers.
  • Facilitate regular audits and inspections for compliance.
  • Act as a resource for occupational health and safety queries.
  • Deliver OSH related training and review training needs analysis.
  • Complete risk assessments.
  • Develop and deliver Manual Handling programs.
  • Create Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete periodic reviews.
