Strategically significant management role - Occupational Health - NZ

 

Your Opportunity
WorkSafe New Zealand is the recently formed Crown Agent that regulates workplace health and safety across NZ.  Their commitment to significantly improve NZ's workplace health and safety and prevent harm to all people in the workplace is fundamental to their formation. 
As part of this commitment they have now created a new position of strategic importance to lead and champion Occupational Health across the business and the country.

You will draw together and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders gaining input and buy-in.  This will ensure the organisation's efforts to improve occupational health outcomes are co-ordinated, evidence based and support best practice.  As the Occupational Health function matures there will be ample opportunity to influence industry through innovation and initiatives that drive a significant improvement in occupational health outcomes. 

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Operational Policy and leading a small team, this crucial role will be responsible for the development of strategies, overall coordination, technical leadership and mobilisation of Occupational Health programmes.  In addition, you will lead WorkSafe NZ's efforts in providing Occupational Health knowledge to business, worker representatives, other agencies and associations that contribute to improving overall Occupational Health outcomes.

To be successful you must bring:
  • Deep knowledge and experience in Occupational Health gained at a senior level across a broad range of occupational health disciplines
  • Strategic thinking  with  proven ability to develop and implement practical and pragmatic  delivery outcomes based on best practice
  • A proven track record of developing strategies and plans and delivering outcomes
  • Demonstrated capability in engaging a wide range of stakeholders 
  • The ability to influence when you don't have direct line accountability
  • Strong demonstrated change leadership and people management abilities

Knowledge of regulatory environments would be highly regarded.
