We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety and Wellbeing Manager to manage work, health and safety requirements across a diverse workforce and drive successful health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.

About the role

As the Safety and Wellbeing Manager you will manage the development, review, delivery and continuous improvement of the Work Health and Safety Management system across YNSW. You will coach and support a wide range of internal stakeholders to manage work, health and safety risks and requirements and work with the broader Quality and Safety team embed a positive safety culture across the organisation. You will also work alongside a second Safety and Wellbeing Manager to support managers and injured employees,  developing and promoting injury management strategies that focus on prevention, early injury recovery and durable return to work.

About you

You will have qualifications and demonstrated experience in the Work, Health and Safety field. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to mentor, coach and support a range of stakeholders to drive positive health and wellbeing outcomes. This role will suit someone who is an excellent team player, highly organised and able to work under demanding situations and most importantly have a personal commitment to promoting and ensuring work safety. Ideally, you will have an understanding of the Workers Compensation legislation and experience driving optimal recovery at work outcomes for a portfolio of complex and medium-risk cases.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma of WHS 
  • Safety auditing qualification or demonstrated experience
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills including written and verbal reporting
  • The ability to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels

Desirable:

  • Completion of Return to Work Coordinator Training
  • Previous experience working under a Loss Prevention and Recovery (LPR) policy model is advantageous
  • First Aid / Mental Health First Aid certificate (Desirable)
