For an immediate start, Taronga is seeking a driven and motivated Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor who has formal qualifications and strong experience in safety within a large, complex environment. Working directly with animal keepers, veterinary staff, project managers and tradespeople, this is an exciting and unique opportunity for a safety professional looking for a new challenge in their career.
 
About the role…
 
Responsibilities of the Senior WHS Advisor will include:
  • Engage and influence stakeholders at operational and management level
  • Assist in the implementation of the new incident reporting software
  • Identify and assess risk and advise effective measures to control
  • Trend analysis of lead and lag indicators of the assigned division
  • Review and develop procedures, risk assessments, SWMS and SOP
  • Undertake injury/incident investigations to find root cause and ensure corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner
  • Develop initiatives to improve health and safety within your assigned division
  • Audit the safety management system and identify gaps for continuous improvement
  • Safety in design for all new construction projects
  • Working exclusively with the Wildlife Conservation and Science division and the Property, Infrastructure and Operations division
 
This position reports directly into the Manager, Work Health and Safety and forms part of the wider People, Culture and Learning Division.
 
About you…
  • WHS tertiary qualifications with 3 years proven and recent WHS operational experience within a high risk environment
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Current First Aid qualifications
  • You will be resilient and have the ability to clearly articulate, write and present ideas
  • Be passionate about improving WHS culture to ensure a safe workplace
