Principal Domain Lead, Safety

The work our ITS teams do today will change how we travel tomorrow by delivering safer, more sustainable travel. As the Principal ITS Domain Lead you will be responsible for supporting alignment of the business needs and strategies with the ITS solutions capability across a 1-10 year time horizon. Being inquisitive you will stay up to date with ITS innovations within the global industry and proactively work to future proof Transurban’s ITS domains (control systems, tolling solutions, surveillance, communications and safety systems) by aligning lifecycle refresh programs to market innovation and trends.

Our world-leading Intelligent Transport Systems teams support the creation of roads for the future. They make toll collections automated and easy. They deliver advanced control systems that monitor and manage traffic on the road - that can detect traffic incidents, and even predict when an accident is more likely to happen. They make roads ready for driverless cars, and co-ordinate smart traffic flow to get us where we’re going faster. A career here makes a difference.

The impact you’ll have

  • You’ll provide technical expertise in the application of safety standards and hazard analysis for critical road safety systems.
  • You’ll manage engagement between ITS engineering and roads asset managers to deliver the best outcome
  • You’ll introduce new technology and cost improvements
  • You’ll demonstrate thought leadership and innovation through conceptual thinking and problem solving and work to formulate solutions within the ITS Domain

The talents you’ll bring

  • A degree-qualified, professionally accredited engineer, you’ll have significant professional experience and a hands-on understanding of ITS engineering or a suitably transferable discipline gained within a complex, matrix organisation
  • You’ll have strong knowledge and be recognised as a thought leader across safety critical systems
  • Ideally you’ll have consulting experience with proven ability to solve complex problems and link from operational matters to strategic impacts
  • You’ll be a sound communicator, including verbal communication skills, presentations, report writing and the preparation of concise management reports
  • You’ll come with proven experience working with senior business stakeholders to achieve successful business outcomes
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate strong customer focus and a team player willing to apply initiative in the work environment

The rewards you’ll earn

  • We’ll make sure you have the tools you need to work smart and live better - including remote & flexible working.
  • We’ll develop you the way you want, with study assistance, training and career planning.
  • We’ll offer flexible leave, public transport ticket purchasing programs, insurance and salary continuance.
  • We’ll help you be healthy with flu vaccinations, fitness classes, fresh fruit and mental health support.
  • We’ll invite you to plenty of social activities, including ones that give back to our communities.
