As an Environmental Health Officer, part of your responsibilities will include:
• Undertaking assessments and approval of applications for plans, new registrations, transfers of registered premises, health premises, prescribed accommodation premises, Domestic Grey Water Treatment Systems and Temporary Food Premises
• Investigating and taking appropriate action to resolve complaints regarding registered food premises, premises registered under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act, unregistered prescribed accommodation and rooming houses, nuisance conditions and breaches of the Environment Protection Act and breaches of the Tobacco Act
• Providing advice and information on prevention and control of infectious diseases, responding to and investigating notifications, single incidents and outbreaks of food borne and other infectious diseases, monitoring public swimming pools and spas and undertaking activities to support public health measures.
To ensure a consistent and professional approach to Environmental Health Services, we’re looking or a candidate with:
• A Bachelor of Health Science (Public and Environmental Health) with relevant experience in the Environmental Health field within a Local Government setting
• Eligibility for membership to Environmental Health Practitioners Australia, current WWCC and a drivers licence
• Detailed knowledge of the Acts and Regulations relevant to an Environmental Health Officer, and a sound understanding of the underlying principles
• Excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills
