What you'll be doing
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to improving the care provided to our patients/clients and community in line with our vision and Journey to Excellence.   

The Quality and Safety Manager (Q&S Manager) will:   

• Coordination of patient/client quality and safety initiatives across Primary Integrated and Community Health (PI&CH) Directorate working in close collaboration with PI&CH units.   
• Providing a Directorate-wide resource for patient/client quality and safety matters.   
• Leading cross-Directorate quality and safety activities e.g. accreditation, risk management, consumer and community involvement, incident reporting and RCA’s.    

This position requires an experienced, motivated professional who is able to demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to a patient/client quality and safety framework. The role involves engaging staff at all levels of the PI&CH Directorate to contribute to the implementation of an integrated quality and safety and risk management program. 


Selection criteria:
1. Tertiary qualification in a health discipline and/or extensive clinical experience in complex health care settings relevant to clinical governance.
2. Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practice of clinical governance, including patient/client safety, clinical risk management and quality improvement.
3. Knowledge of culture change, human factors and quality and safety processes including clinical practice improvement and root cause analysis.
4. Demonstrated analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
5. Demonstrated presentation skills and the ability to provide training and education on patient/client safety issues to clinical and clinical support staff
6. Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive reports.
7. Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
8. Demonstrated experience working constructively with clinical staff in complex health care organisations.
