The position of Rail Safety Officer forms a part of the Rail Safety Branch within Transport Safety Victoria.

TSV is Victoria's integrated safety regulator for bus, maritime & rail transport.  It is headed by the Director, Transport Safety whose statutory  object is to independently seek the highest transport safety standards consistent with the transport system's vision & objectives under the Transport Integration Act 2010. 

The position of Rail Safety Officer can sit within two teams, either reporting to the Manager,  Audit & Compliance or the Manager, Accreditation. This position is responsible for monitoring the compliance of rail operators with designated rail safety legislation, assessing accreditation applications and conducting targeted compliance activities.

The position is responsible for providing advice and maintaining effective communication and relationships with senior management and accredited and non-accredited rail operators and industry stakeholders regarding rail safety, accreditation and compliance matters.

You must meet the requirements of a Category 3 Rail safety Worker in accordance with the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers

To be successful in this role you will have experience in safety operations and compliance in the rail industry. You should also have Experience and expertise in planning and conducting complex safety audits and compliance inspections ensuring adherence to strict regulatory requirements within a hazardous environment.
