Business Manager - Dangerous Goods

About the role

The Business Manager, DGRU identifies opportunities to improve industry, business unit or organisational policy, program or processes and develops, designs and implements plans or policy response consistent with overall strategic direction. They lead development, including project teams, and co-ordinating the work of others to achieve the agreed improvements.

  • Provide strong people leadership and collaboration across the unit and Business Operations division
  • Liaise with the DGRU Managers in relation to the development and implementation of the divisional business plan and achievement of performance targets.
  • Support the Head of Dangerous Goods Reform Unit including stakeholder management, convening industry forums, fostering knowledge transfer across the business and coordination of Operational Reference Groups/ working groups.
  • Support the Head of Dangerous Goods Reform Unit in managing requests for information and correspondence, including requests from the Office of the Chief Executive, the Minister and external stakeholders.
  • Analyse the key risks to health and safety within the division. Scrutinise and validate program schedules and the Centralised Targeting list to assist in focussing resources.
  • In collaboration with DGRU Managers drive the development of intervention programs to be delivered by field or project resources across WSV. These can include prevention initiatives and employer interventions linked to the work of the Dangerous Goods Reform Unit.

About you

  • Significant experience in leading and managing programs across multiple teams
  • A working knowledge of the regulators role in OHS
  • Demonstrated ability to effect organisational change
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, strategise and put into operation, business improvement measures
  • Tertiary qualification in Management or Business Administration or other relevant field
