About the role

Support a prompt implementation and undertake ongoing assurance of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Management System (HSWMS) currently being transformed to ISO 45001:2018, achieving a benchmark for all other Government agencies.   The Safety Business Partner is crucial to this goal to implement, evaluate and monitor the system ensuring continual improvement.  This role also supports integration of HSW initiatives and programs within WorkSafe to cultivate a proactive HSW culture, undertaking assurance activities across WorkSafe's activities; and assisting with the upgrading of system software capability including statistical analysis.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Implementation of the HSW Management System including; Internal safety process development; Coordination of safety activities and consultation programs; Review of Safety and other Corporate Procedures; Development of Safety guidelines and information; Development of tools to support the implementation and auditing of the system.
  • Training and Coaching for Safety Systems including; partnering with Learning and Development Design and develop safety training modules; Deliver face to face training to other subject matter experts as required.
  • Assurance of the WHS Management System including; Undertake internal audits across the organisation; Undertake statistical analysis on internal data, report development and compliance monitoring; Analysis and observation of risk control programs implementation; Assist with implementation and gap analysis for ISO 45001:2018 certification; Coordinate internal work area inspection program; Conduct observational (behaviour based) audits.
  • WHS Program Management including; Supporting the implementation and assurance of the WHS management system software; conducting maintenance and quality checks on software and data; Development of key statistical reports and maintenance of incident management system; Provide general H&S process advice including Incident investigation support, recommendation of risk controls in regards to H&S key risks and support of internal WHS management system functions; Participate in the development of a healthy, safe and wellbeing focused workplace, following all applicable HSW policy and procedural requirements.

 Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Regulatory framework and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of safety management systems, assurance and continual improvement principles
  • Experience in safety systems implementation and monitoring within a complex organisation
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 18001 or 45001 and / or quality management principles
  • Understanding and capability to produce WHS data analysis to measure performance and implementation
  • Experience in developing and facilitating training using adult learning principles
  • Understanding of risk management principles and application of control hierarchy

 Qualifications

  • Current Drivers Licence (Essential)
  • Grad Diploma / Diploma in OHS with >5 years' experience (Essential)
  • Lead Auditor in Safety or Quality systems (Essential)
  • Certificate 4 Workplace training and assessment (Desired)
