Security Control Centre Supervisor

A rare opportunity exists to join our Security and Emergency Preparedness Delivery team as a Security Control Centre Supervisor (internally known as Security Shift Supervisor).

Reporting to the Security Services Manager and working out of our Rail Management Centre at Bowen Hills, you will manage Queensland Rail’s response to security incidents in real-time, making operational decisions in a high-pressure control centre environment, ensuring impacts to day of operations are minimised.

Leading and managing a small team of Security Monitoring Officers, you are a key point of contact for all operational areas, primarily Train Control Centres and external stakeholders (Police and other emergency services) to provide timely and effective advice and response to security incidents, ensuring relevant parties are notified and appropriate coordination of resources and activities are undertaken.

There is a reporting element to the role; you will provide accurate and timely communications and reports on security incidents and the management of them, to a variety of stakeholders including senior management.

You will perform a quality assurance function by ensuring all security incident reports are completed accurately by your team and in a timely fashion, that they are clear, concise and an accurate reflection of the incident and actions taken.

Importantly you will participate in security planning meetings as a key stakeholder to ensure that security resources are allocated effectively across the network, including management of pro-active CCTV monitoring according to intelligence received.

This is an incident management supervisory position, not an Incident Investigator or a Security Patrolling Officer position.

To be considered for this opportunity you must be able to demonstrate solid experience leading teams in a control room, CCTV monitoring or similar operational environment.

A strong focus of this position is leadership, you will need to demonstrate strong team and business leadership capabilities and a demonstrated background in developing a high performing team in a high-pressure operational environment.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate extensive experience in managing escalated security incidents in a CCTV monitoring or similar ‘in real time’ operational environment with the ability to monitor and analyse changing security incidents and adapt responses accordingly.

You will need the flexibility to work a 4-week rotating 24/7 shift roster requiring 11 hour shifts with early starts, late finishes and working every second weekend. There is also an on-call component for at least one week per month.

The base salary for this opportunity is $96,000 - $104,000, with current shift penalties you can expect $115,000 - $130,000 plus superannuation. Salary will be negotiated based on experience. Queensland Rail offer a generous superannuation package and free rail travel to and from work.

This position requires an Individual - Class 1 Security Providers Licence with the security monitoring category. If you do not hold this license you must have the ability to obtain such a licence within three months of commencing the role.
